Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Freddie Jean Jackson Gray, 72, of Tillatoba, who died on Monday, May 3, at her residence. Burial followed in Elam Cemetery near Coffeeville. The Rev. James McElroy officiated.
Freddie was born on May 22, 1948, in Charleston to Fred and Bernice Lowery Jackson. She enjoyed a 31-year-long career at Pennaco Hosiery. A devoted family woman, she enjoyed spending time with her family and loved cooking for them. Fishing and watching old home movies were among her many hobbies.
Her parents; her husband, James R. Gray; her son, James Melvin Gray, and two sisters, Mary Jackson and Nancy Redwine, preceded Freddie in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Rachel Doubleday (Jason) of Tillatoba; two sisters, Virginia Grubbs and Myra Dempsey, both of Grenada; brothers, Johnny Jackson and Danny Jackson, both of Tillatoba; five grandchildren, James Doubleday, Jordan Doubleday, Allison Hill, Stephanie Hill and Tracy Coker; four great grandchildren, Zoey, Sophia, Ethan and Natalie and a host of nieces and nephews.
