The Grenada Tourism Commission is bringing live music back for this year’s Thunder on Water event.
After two years, GTC Executive Director Gary Worsham is eager to get Thunder on Water back to where it used to be.
“We are thrilled to have the concerts back,” he said. “I don’t think we could have picked a better line up than this. Not only are these concerts free, they are right by the water and within walking distance of food and carnival fun. I want this event to be what it used to be. I know that we aren’t having a boat parade this year, but Friday night, if you are out in a boat to watch the famous firework show, decorate it. Light it up and make it fun. It is going to take all of us.”
The stage will be set up on the south side of the spillway across the water from the carnival. Entertainment will begin at 4 p.m. with the last act beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11.
Opening the night’s entertainment will be the Soul & Parliament Band. From the Mississippi Delta, comes a young guitarist with roots in Blues, Soul and Gospel music. Tyan Nash started the Soul & Parliament Band in 2013. The five-piece band is known for it’s high-energy, singing and interaction with the crowd.
One of the most requested country party bands in the region, the Jason Miller Band from Starkville, will take the stage at 5:30 p.m. Jason Miller, the former lead singer of Crossing Dixon, has been joined by some of Mississippi’s most talented players and singers to create the country band. This band of brothers is known for their musicianship, tight harmonies and seemingly effortless ability to deliver a high-energy show.
From the All American Rejects to Taylor Swift and Luke Combs to Panic, Get Sideways can make any event one for the record books.
At 7:30 p.m., Get Sideways will tribute to not one, but two decades of the most fun music that’s ever been recorded. The band has blazed a trail across stages all over the country playing 90s and 2000s pop rock.
At 9:30 p.m., from New Orleans, La., The Troy Laz Band will take the stage for the final act. From wedding receptions, corporate events, college parties and festivals throughout the Southeast, the band is a one-of-a-kind, high-energy entertainment. From James Brown to Bruno Mars and Prince, every festivalgoer can enjoy the unique blend of music.
Thunder on Water will begin on Wednesday, June 8, and continue through Sunday, June 12.
