Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, in Holcomb Cemetery for Mrs. Esther Fay Orrell Jackson, 83, of Holcomb, who died on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Rev. Rick Shepherd and the Rev. Janie Mortimer officiated.
Esther Fay was born on May 30, 1939, in Charleston, the daughter of the late Robert and Hazel Cunningham Orrell. She enjoyed a career spanning more than 40 years working in the administrative office of the Grenada School District. She was a devoted and faithful member of Holcomb Methodist Church. She possessed a servant’s heart and was always willing to help someone in need. She never met a stranger and was a gifted conversationalist.
In addition to her parents, her daughter, Cheryl Jackson Cummins; sisters, Betty Lou Krone and Charlotte Simmons and brothers, Robert and Gene Orrell, preceded Esther Fay in death.
Survivors include, her husband, James “Tommy” Jackson; her son, Jack Jackson (Penny) of Holcomb and three grandchildren, Reagan Jackson, Kellie Cummins Mullins and Hayley Cummins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
