The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announces that Grenada Lake has made plans to host its annual special youth deer hunt this year at the Grenada Lake Dam Area.
The hunt will take place over two weekends: Dec. 16-18, and Dec. 30-Jan. 1, 2023. Registration begins on Nov. 11 runs through Nov. 17. To register for the hunt, email Will Clark at will.clark@usace.army.mil with the youth hunter’s name and age and the accompanying adult’s name, age and phone number. No early or late registration entries will be accepted.
Hunting areas will be chosen through a random drawing process. Eligible hunters must be eight to 15 yeas old and accompanied by a parent or guardian over 21 with a valid Mississippi Hunting License. Ground blinds and two-man ladder stands will be placed in each area for the hunters’ use. Youth hunters may harvest one buck and two does during the hunt. Drawn participants will be given a packet with rules and regulations as well as a map of the hunting areas.

The purpose of this hunt is to encourage our youth to be become more involved in hunting, outdoor recreation, and wildlife conservation and to help manage a healthier deer population.
