Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, at Scotland Baptist Church in Winona for Edith Ileta Baskin Weed, 97, of Winona, who died on Thursday, Nov. 27, in Vaiden. Burial followed in Scotland Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Trosper officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the church.
Mrs. Weed was born on May 4, 1928, in Winona, the daughter of the late William Monroe “Red” and the late Alma Ree Nash Baskin. She was a member of Scotland Baptist Church in Winona.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Richard Allen Weed Sr.; one sister, Rosa Nell Huggins, and one brother, Sonny Baskin, preceded Mrs. Weed in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Susan Rebecca Weed of Vidalia, La.; two sons, Richard Allen Weed Jr. (Bootsie) of Winona and William Albert Weed (Joyce) of Saltillo; one sister, Jennie Edwards of Ashville, N.C.; brother-in-law, Burrell Huggins of Winona; six grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Scotland Baptist Church, 782 County Road 14, Winona, MS 38967.
