A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Eddie Allen Flowers Sr., 74, of Holcomb, a devoted family man, respected businessman and faithful servant of the Lord, who died on Saturday, Aug. 9, surrounded by loved ones. Dr. Joey Faulk will officiate and Mark Latham will deliver the eulogy. Family and friends will gather from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday, Aug. 15, at McKibben and Guinn.
Born in Rolling Fork, Eddie spent part of his early life in San Mateo, Calif., before returning to Rolling Fork to finish high school. A talented athlete, he played baseball at Mississippi Delta Community College before pursuing his studies in entomology at Mississippi State University.
Eddie had a lifelong passion for farming, spending countless hours under the guidance of his mentor and dear friend, Jimmy Walker. His work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led him into many ventures – buying and selling farm equipment, owning coin-operated laundries and car washes and founding Mid Delta Auction Company. At the auction company, Eddie enjoyed working alongside his son, Allen, and his lifelong friend, James Johnson, until his retirement.
A man of deep faith, Eddie served as a deacon and active member of North Greenwood Baptist Church where he was involved in the men’s ministry. After moving from Greenwood to Holcomb, he joined Providence Baptist Church in Grenada where he continued to serve and encourage others.
Eddie loved life’s simple and grand moments alike — a house full of children and grandchildren, holiday gatherings and especially Christmas. He also had a love for travel, often making memories on the road with those he cherished most.
His parents, Edgar and Dorothy Williams Flowers, and one son-in-law, Ed Hooker, preceded Eddie in death.
Survivors include his wife, Angie Flowers; four daughters, Kimberly Hooker of Ridgeland, Meagan Little (Matthew) of Franklin, Tenn., Mary Britton Nobile (Andrew) of Holcomb and Julie Flowers of Hernando; two sons, Allen Flowers (Heather) of Greenwood and Jay Mitchell (Tinsley) of Canton; three brothers, Richard Flowers (Jennifer) of Huntsville, Texas, Rodney Flowers (Nancy) of Ecru and Mike Flowers (Diane) of Tupelo and 10 grandchildren, Win Hooker, Anna Margaret Hooker, Elliott Flowers, Belton Walker, Ford Little, Fisher Little, Georgia Allen Little, Nettie Nobile, Britton Nobile and Elle Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Scott, Stacy Scott, Ray Makamson, Derrick Doss, Bob Hunter, Keith Raby, Jerry Cantrell, Hunt Toole, John McClendon and Doss Shropshire.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to VitalCare Home Health and Hospice for its exceptional compassion during Eddie’s final days – with special thanks to Brette Ansley, Natalie Martin and Janice Raines for their care and empathy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Providence Baptist Church, Attn: Children and Youth, 85 Misterton Rd., Grenada, MS 38901.
