Memorial service plans are private for Dennis Lee Proffer, 77, of Grenada, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, with his daughters and sister by his side.
Dennis was born on June 29, 1947, and lived a full, vibrant life surrounded by family and friends. He was a proud Vietnam veteran and a successful businessman, owning various enterprises including, restaurants, lounges and his own tile and carpeting business. He was a true one-of-a-kind-someone who could make you laugh or have you fighting mad with just one sentence.
Known for his quick wit and charm, Dennis loved playing the guitar and spending time in his favorite local spots, always ready with a story or a joke. Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
His parents, Edmond and Grace Proffer of Grenada, preceded Dennis in death.
Survivors include, his loving daughters, Denise (Jim) Butler of Celina, Texas; Ricki Jean (Jason) Hardin of Grenada and Amber (Chris) Dungan of Grenada. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Dylan (Haley) Gretchokoff of Pilot Point, Texas; Luke Hardin of Grenada and Hayden Dungan and Savannah Dungan, both of Grenada.
Dennis also leaves behind five siblings, Larry (Judy) Proffer of Hixson, Tenn., Suzanne (Doug) Hensel of Lodi, Calif., Earl Earley of Southaven, Richard (Sherry) Wells Jr. of Gulfport and his baby sister, Vicki Earley Mason, also of Southaven. He will also be remembered fondly by his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
