Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, in Woodlawn Memorial Park for the Rev. Davy Joe Montgomery, 76, of Grenada, who died on Monday, Sept. 23, in Oxford. The Rev. Rickey Harris officiated. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening, Sept. 25, and from noon until service time on Thursday, Sept. 26, all at McKibben and Guinn.
Bro. Joe was born on April 29, 1948, in Pontotoc, the son of the late J.T. and the late Melba Abbott Montgomery. He retired after working for many years at Modine in Grenada. He also faithfully served as pastor of Zion Grove Church of God of Prophecy prior to his retirement.
In addition to his parents, his wife of 55 years, Mamie Holcomb Montgomery, and one brother, Larry Montgomery, preceded Bro. Joe in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Sonia Simpson (Herman) of Grenada; two sons, Joe Montgomery (Terri) and Daniel Montgomery (Misty), all of Grenada; sister, Brenda Hutchenson of Pontotoc; one brother, Arrie Montgomery of Arlington, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Campbell (Trent), Tori Williams (Blake), Emma Grace Montgomery, Ally Kate Montgomery and Jolie Beth Montgomery and five great grandchildren, Khloe Campbell, Myles Williams, Korie Campbell, Hayes Williams and Grady Williams.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Zion Grove Church of God of Prophecy.
