A local woman was injured following a series of shootings Tuesday night that occurred in the central area of the city.
According to officials with the Grenada Police Department, the woman was shot on Gerard Street after reports of a series of gunfire in the area of Poplar Street were received. Police have not released the woman’s name or age, but said that she is a Grenada resident.
According to GPD officers, the woman was shot in the abdomen area.
“The victim was airlifted to Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo where she is being treated for her injuries,” Police Chief George Douglas said.
The victims status was unknown Thursday morning.
GPD officers and deputies with the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shots fired call shortly after 9 p.m.
Douglas said no arrests have been made in connection with the shootings.
