The Grenada Police Department is investigating a weekend shooting where a teenager was injured and another is in custody.
According to GPD Chief George Douglas, the shooting occurred on Washington Street last Saturday night near an apartment complex. Douglas said the preliminary investigation revealed some type of an altercation occurred and as a result a 16-year-old was shot and injured.
“The victim was shot in the torso area and treated at the local hospital,” Douglas said. “He was later airlifted to another hospital where he is recovering.”
Douglas said one person has been arrested. The case is still under investigation.
Earlier this month, a 14-year-old was injured when she was shot at a home in the Union Street area. A 20-year-old woman is also recovering after being shot in the Poplar Street area earlier this month.
