An afternoon traffic stop late last week in Grenada netted narcotics including crack cocaine and methamphetamines, along with paraphernalia and a cell phone, according to the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies pulled over the suspect last Friday afternoon due to an outstanding warrant after recognizing him prior to him driving off from a local business. When the suspect stepped out of the car, a small clear plastic container fell out of his lap and into the roadway. Inside the container was multiple yellowish white square rocks presumed to be crack cocaine.
According to the report, the arresting deputy bent down and picked up the substance and confirmed that it was in fact crack cocaine. He then proceeded to place the suspect in handcuffs. As the deputy was handcuffing the suspect, he looked at the deputy and said, “I was trying to hide that,” the GCSO told The Star. “Man, you can throw that away for me.”
The deputy responded, “You already know I can’t do that.”
The deputy placed the suspect into the back of his vehicle and continued to search the suspect’s vehicle. At this time, another deputy showed up and began to help in the search. Inside the vehicle sitting right on top of the center console was a white baggie filled with a large amount of a clear crystal-like substance known to be methamphetamine. The deputy continued to search the vehicle and inside the center console he found a scale with clear crystal-like residue.
The deputies seized the narcotics, a scale and a cell phone.
The suspect was taken to the jail and all the evidence seized was placed in evidence to be sent to the crime lab.
The identity of the suspect is not being released, while the investigation continues.
