A 25-year-old Grenada man is behind bars at the Grenada County Jail following a shooting late Tuesday night at a city gas station.
Lykyron Herrod was arrested Wednesday by officers with the Grenada County Police Department and is currently being held on a $50,000 bond. He was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly shooting 31-year-old Michael Cobbs of Grenada.
“The investigation continues concerning the shooting,” GPD Chief George Douglas said Thursday. “Cobbs was the only victim that received injuries in connection with the shooting.”
GPD officers responded to the shooting dispatch call to the QuikStop located at 1109 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., intersecting with Fairfield Avenue, just after 9 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a person, later identified as Cobbs, had been shot. He was transported by MedStat EMS personnel to the University of Mississippi Medical Center-Grenada and later airlifted to an undisclosed hospital for further treatment.
