One of the area’s longest running festivals continues this Saturday after more than four decades of success.
The Bogue Creek Festival will be held this Saturday, Sept. 4, in Lancaster Grove in Duck Hill. The festival has been held for nearly 40 years in the small Montgomery County town.
The festival will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be entertainment, vendors, pony rides and live music, according to organizers.
Miranda Dean, secretary for the Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department, said a lot of work has gone into this year’s festival and they are extremely excited about it.
“I was born and raised here, as well as others, so we wanted to see the festival continue and grow,” Dean said.
The festival is the only fundraiser for the Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department in the Alva-Red Hill community near Duck Hill.
“It’s really good to see the people that we’re not able to see every day,” Dean said. “That’s what this festival brings, just good family fun.”
The festival is a day-long event where people come from all over to participate in fun for children, arts and crafts, and countless numbers of barbecue and other food vendors.
The event will begin with the National Anthem, followed by a brief welcome and devotional and entertainment. Dean said they already have several vendor slots filled and applications are still being accepted.
