The 100 Black Men of Grenada, Inc., will host its twelfth annual Scholarship and Fundraising Gala next Thursday evening.
In 2019, the Gala was the biggest fundraiser the 100 Black Men have held to date.
“We want this one to top it,” 100 Black Men President Roger Givens said. “This fundraiser is what helps our youth in the community get to college.”
Former State Senator and now Mississippi Department of Transportation Commissioner Willie Simmons will be the guest speaker for the evening event.
“Mr. Simmons is a long time public servant,” Givens said. “He is real, and wants the best for the future of young adults.”
U.S. Congressman Bennie Thompson of the MS 2nd Congressional District will also be in attendance presenting the 100 Black Men of Grenada with a special gift.
“Mr. Thompson has not been able to get here to present the 100 Black Men with a gift,” Givens concluded. “He was finally able to get us in on the schedule and it was during this event, so we are going to let him do his special presentation at this time. It worked out for us both.”
The Scholarship and Fundraising Gala will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 20, in the Corey Forum at Holmes Community College’s Grenada Campus.
