The Duck Hill Police Department is investigating a weekend shooting that left one man dead and authorities looking for his killer.
Duck Hill Police Chief Tyler Winter identified the victim as Michael Ringold, 31, who was shot and killed early Saturday morning. Winter said the shooting took place along Carrollton Street in an area where Ringold was believed to be walking.
“This case remains under investigation, so there’s only so much we can release at this moment,” Winter said. “We are currently working on this.”
Police received a call of shots fired along Carrollton Street and according to Winter when an officer arrived at the scene, Ringold was found shot to death. Winter said the call of the shooting was received around 2:40 a.m.
Winter said Ringold was also the victim of an aggravated assault last month when he was seriously injured after being hit in the head area with a sledgehammer. He said these types of events are uncommon in Duck Hill.
“We will get to the bottom of this,” Winter said. “This is very unfortunate for our town of Duck Hill.”
