Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Christopher Clark Hoop, 53, of Grenada, who died on Monday, Sept. 22, in Jackson. Burial with full military honors followed in Scobey Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Tribble officiated.
Chris was born on Oct. 28, 1971, in Grenada, the son of the late Rual Vernon Hoop and Brenda Joyce Shaw Hoop. He honorably served in the Mississippi Army National Guard since he was 18 years old and most recently worked as a federal technician at the Camp McCain Training Facility. Chris embarked on two overseas tours of duty and earned the rank of Sergeant 1st Class.
Known by his friends as “Pops,” Chris took great pride in teaching others and helping people learn and grow. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time and was considered by most to be a master mechanic. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father, one daughter, Galen Smith, preceded Chris in death.
Survivors include, one daughter, Mackenna Sing of Nesbit; three sons, William Hoop, Aaron Hoop and Ethan Hoop, all of Grenada; mother, Brenda Hoop of Springfield, Mo., and three brothers, Barry Hoop (Doris) and Randy Hoop (Gail), all of Tillatoba, and Darryl Hoop (Cindy) of Springfield, Mo.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Chadwick Davis, Sgt. Nathaniel Perry, Sgt. Larrynko Aldridge, 1st Sgt. Mike Taylor, Staff Sgt. Jeffery McKenzie, Staff Sgt. Travis Shaw, SSF Jonathan Connerley and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Don Adams honored Chris by serving as pallbearers. Chief Warrant Officer 4 Kim Ralston and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jerry D. McCullough served as honorary pallbearers.
