Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Stonefield Church of God in Cascilla for Chester Ray “Jay” King Sr., 80, of Cascilla, who died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 30, at his residence. Burial followed in the Stonefield Church cemetery. Visitation was held from noon until service time at the church.
Jay was born on Oct. 25, 1943, in Cascilla, the son of the late Albert and the late Addie King. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He retired from Heatcraft, Inc., with 43 years of service. He was lovingly known as Paw and Pawpaw to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, one son, Chester Ray “Jay” King Jr.; brothers, Sonny King, Dean King, Buddy King, Thomas Wesley King and Teddy King, and sisters, Doris King Houston, Molly King Spears, Suanna King and Ester Fay King, preceded Jay in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 60 years, Shirley Hamblen King; one son, Tim King; his daughter, Tracy Dietz;
daughter-in-law, Gwen Lott; seven grandchildren, Doug White (Ashleigh), Laura King Grubb (Kyle), Lacey King Holt (Mason), Conner Redmond, Cameron Redmond, Savanna King and Bryce King, and five great grandchildren, Briggs Owen Holt, Lucy Brett Grubb, Krew Wyler Holt, Avree White and Rylee White.
