Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Ms. Carolyn Jean Purnell Tindall, 76, of Carrollton, who died on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, in Tupelo. Burial followed in Holcomb Cemetery. The Rev. David Haggerty officiated. The family received friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn.
Carolyn was born on April 19, 1948, in Reform, Ala., the daughter of the late Rufus Lyon and the late Adell Hughes Purnell. She enjoyed a career spanning more than 29 years at Staplcotn in Greenwood. She was an active member of Holcomb Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family. Gardening, tending to her flowers, sewing, cross-stitch and reading were among her many hobbies, but she found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, her sisters, Marilyn Gwin and Melba Ross, and her brother, Virgil Purnell Sr., preceded Carolyn in death.
Survivors include, two daughters, Jackie Tindall Corder (Kevin) of Carrollton and Christy Tindall May (Keith) of Greenwood; son, Jim Tindall Jr. (Emily) of Grenada; niece (sister), Sandra Darnell of West Point; five grandchildren, Katie Nance (Heath), Alex Killebrew (Kasey), Anna Carol Heigle (Cole) Alden Killebrew (Ali) and Grant May; three great grandchildren, Rylie, Aubrey and Mary Alice and her beloved dog, Coco.
Pallbearers were Kevin Corder, Cole Heigle, Alden Killebrew, Alex Killebrew, Grant May, Keith May and Heath Nance.
