Retirement celebrations were under way last month, for two of Camp McCain’s longtime employees.
Co-workers, family and friends gathered at the Unit Training Equipment Site (UTES), Bldg. S-302 located at Camp McCain to celebrate the retirement of two of their own.
Jason Burton, surface maintenance mechanic supervisor of WS11-05 for the Mississippi Army National Guard [MSARNG] hung up his hat after 26 years of service. Josh Connerley, surface maintenance mechanic work lead of WL11-05 for the MSARNG, is also saying goodbye after 21 years.
“These shoes will be hard to fill and I don’t know what we will do until then,” Matthew Welch CW4, OD, MSARNG, said. “These men worked hard each and every day and always did what was expected of them. They will be truly missed.”
Warren Jones surface maintenance technician for the MSARNG, agreed. “They will be greatly missed,” he said. “The knowledge they passed on and lessons they taught, I will carry on for years to come. They leave a huge hole in the UTES family.”
Burton and Connerley are both eager and ready to take on retirement spending more time with family and friends.
The ceremony was followed by a special luncheon provided by the unit.
