Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, at Big Springs Baptist Church in Brookhaven for Brenda Sydney May Sanders, 75, of Grenada, who passed from this life on Saturday, Oct. 5. Burial followed in Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Sanders was born on Oct. 25, 1948, in Brookhaven, the daughter of the late Mr. R.S. May and the late Mrs. Louise Foster May. She enjoyed quilting, making flower arrangements, cake decorating and making jelly. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Big Springs Baptist Church in Brookhaven. Her children and grandchildren — birth and adopted — were her greatest joys in life.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Thomas T. Sanders; sister, Barbara Wyland, and two sisters-in-law, Rosemary May and Rocella May, preceded Mrs. Sanders in death.
Survivors include, her best friend and cousin, Mavis Flemming; daughter, Amy Coon Durr (Mark); sons, Jamie Durr, Brian Durr (Sally) and Trey Sanders (Lauren); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth May and Rusty May; sister-in-law, Inez Osmun, and a host of nieces and nephews.
