Burial followed in Murphy Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Mayo officiated. Visitation was held from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the funeral home.
Brenda was born on Nov. 15, 1958, in Grenada, the daughter of the late Melvin and the late Joy Dean Beck Simmons. She was a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church. Brenda enjoyed greeting and visiting with customers as they entered the family business, Gregory’s Food Mart. She also loved to plant flowers in the spring and watch them grow. Brenda was an excellent cook, but she also enjoyed eating out. Most of all, she dearly loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play ball.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Michael Earl Simmons, and her sister, Rhonda Simmons, preceded Brenda in death.
Survivors include, her loving husband of 42 years, George William “Buddy” Gregory Jr., and her children, Eric (Shannon) Gregory and Heather (Brad) Tabor, all of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Nana” to her six grandchildren, Alexis (Max) Burdine, Hunter Gregory, Hayze Gregory, Ashlyn Tabor, Devin Tabor and Maddox Tabor, who survive her. She also leaves her great granddaughter, Jordyn Burdine and was looking forward to the birth of another great granddaughter in May. Additionally, Brenda is survived by her loving nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Hunter Gregory, Hayze Gregory, Devin Tabor, Maddox Tabor, Max Burdine, Corby King and Josh King.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed in Brenda’s name to the Murphy Creek Cemetery Fund, 5420 Bond Rd., Louisville, MS 39339 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at stjude.org
