Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, at Hebron Baptist Church for Mr. Bobby Clifton Hollis Sr., 85, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, in Grenada. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The Rev. Rickey Harris officiated. The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday, Jan. 2, at the church.
Bobby was born on April 11, 1939, in Leland, the son of the late C.L. and the late Bertha Lou Foster Hollis. A self-employed contractor, Bobby was a retired painter and drywall specialist. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. He enjoyed deer hunting and watching NASCAR. Bobby will be remembered as a loving grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family at every opportunity.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Peggy Hollis; daughter, Peggy Smitherman; son-in-law, Louis Smitherman, and four brothers, James Olen Hollis, F.J. Hollis, John David Hollis and Charles Edward Hollis, preceded Bobby in death.
Survivors include, his two sons, Bobby Clifton “JR” Hollis Jr. and Alfred Jackson Hollis, both of Grenada; sister, Ruby Belk of Houston; one brother, Donnie Joe Hollis of Grenada; five grandchildren, Shae Bishop (Dean), Casey Hollis, Jason Smitherman (Rachel), Ryan Hollis and Corissa Smitherman (Connor); six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Tristan Austin, Danny Brown, Ricky Edwards, Jeff Flake, Gene Foster, Randy Harrell and Larry Ralston honored Mr. Hollis by serving as pallbearers and carried him to rest in Hebron Cemetery.
