A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Holcomb Cemetery for Mrs. Bettye Vickery Holland, 88, of Holcomb, who died on Thursday, July 24, in Oxford. The Rev. Rick Shepherd and the Rev. Janie Mortimer officiated.
Bettye was born on March 26, 1937, in Grenada, the daughter of the late Cliff and the late Oma Jacks Vickery. She enjoyed a career spanning more than 25 years in the Grenada Bank System, which later became Sunburst Bank, and then retiring from Union Planters Bank. She was a devoted member of Holcomb First Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, working in her flower garden and reading.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Charles Holland Jr.; sisters, Evelyn Cost and Ruth Palmer; brothers, John Vickery and George Vickery, and granddaughters, Amanda Latham and Marlana Holland King, preceded Bettye in death.
Survivors include, her three children, Charlie Holland (Cindy), Jennifer Rose (Bubba) and Cliff Holland (June), all of Holcomb; six grandchildren, Taylor Holland, Julianna Holland, Joe Holland, Dana Carpenter, Jessie Pastori, Emily Rose, Will Rose and family and Drew Rose and family; eight great grandchildren, Megan Slaughter, Christopher Carpenter, Danielle Holland, Ava Holland, Kacey Holland, Cass Pastori, Briley Smith and Freyja Spitler; two great-great grandchildren, Sadie June Slaughter and Anna Hayden Slaughter; a host of nieces and nephews; her faithful dogs, Gypsy, Rocky and Marcy, and her devoted cat, Kit.
Stephen Carpenter, Joe Holland, Taylor Holland, Eli Palmer, Jacob Palmer and Terry Neal Slaughter honored Bettye by serving as pallbearers. Christopher Carpenter, Ric Palmer and Cass Pastori served as honorary pallbearers.
