Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Betty Smith, 86, of Cascilla, who died on Sunday, Jan. 15, at her residence. Burial followed in Grenada Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Gary Bunch officiated.
Betty was born on Nov. 26, 1936, in Marks, the daughter of the late Winston Thomas and the late Dorothy Brooks Caffey. She was a faithful member of Cascilla Baptist Church and had worked for many years as a social worker at Grenada Living Center. Betty will long be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, and a loyal friend.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Buddy Caffey, preceded Betty in death.
Survivors include, her husband, Willard Earl Smith; sons, Michael Joseph Lukacs of Courtland and Gregory Stephen Lukacs of Cascilla; stepdaughters, Darlene King and Jeannie Morris, both of Cascilla; stepson, Richard Earl Smith of Cascilla; three grandchildren, Magen Marie Grimes, Casey Logan Lukacs and Olivia Madison Smith and three great grandchildren.
