A graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, in Grenada Memorial Garden for Mrs. Bettie Faye Aven Simpson Putman, 90, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, in Grenada. The Rev. J. Barry Worrell officiated.
Bettie was born on June 11, 1935, in Holcomb, the daughter of the late Walter and the late Stella Howard Aven. She was a devoted homemaker who loved keeping her home in immaculate condition. She enjoyed canning vegetables in the summertime and was a voracious reader. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.
In addition to her parents, her husbands, Gilbert Simpson and E.A. Putman, preceded Bettie in death.
Survivors include, two stepdaughters, Becky Smith of Olive Branch and Debbie Bagwell of Eupora; stepson, David Putman (Bettye) of Duck Hill, and a host of other beloved family members.
