Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at Grenada Church of God for Barbara Ann Woods Brunson, 81, who died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service time on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the church.
Barbara was born on Sept. 22, 1944, in Rosedale, the daughter of the late Tommie Alexander Woods and the late Willie Vivian Farmer Woods. She was the cherished wife of William H. Brunson with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Their life together was marked by love, dedication and a strong commitment to family values.
Barbara was a devoted mother to her children, Sheila Brunson Steinwinder (Joe) of Enterprise, Ala., Penny Brunson of Hernando and Alex Brunson (Jennifer) of Grenada, all of whom survive her. She was the youngest daughter of 10 children. One sibling, Bobby Woods, also survives Barbara.
Barbara was a proud and loving grandmother and great grandmother, roles that brought her immense joy and fulfillment. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Barbara was a faithful member of the Grenada Church of God and a former long-term member of the Greenwood Church of God where she formed lasting friendships and faithfully served the Lord for many years.
Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering faith, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include, her grandchildren: Sarah Beth Hile (Kevin), Mary Katherine Akins (Trey), Carter Steinwinder (Jessica), Emily Christian (Colby), Rebecca Norris (Dustin), Kimberly Fisher (Shayne), Catherine Beck (Dustin), Hallie Brunson and Hayden Brunson, as well as her 12 great grandchildren. Her love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren was evident in every aspect of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
