Audrey Hudson Ross, 101, of Oakland was born on Oct. 10, 1923, in the Palestine community of Tate County, the daughter of the late Walter and the late Hettie Hudson. She entered her eternal rest on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Charleston, and was laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tate County on Thursday, July 24.
Audrey spent her early years in Cockrum where she helped her family on their dairy farm, selling milk to Memphis dairies and eggs to the Peabody Hotel. She graduated from Olive Branch High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Robert Milton “Bob” Ross, in 1947. They moved to Oakland in the early 1960s with their two young sons, Bobby and Paul.
Audrey retired as a bank employee from the local Oakland bank at the age of 89. She was an active member of Oakland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and also playing Mexican Train, Rummikub and Rook games with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, her husband Bob; one son, Bobby Ross; her brother, Harold Hudson, and her sister, Marjorie Ann Hudson Hawks, preceded Audrey in death.
Survivors include, one son, Paul Ross (Teresa) of Grenada; four grandsons, Brett (Andrea) of Como, Bradley Ross of Batesville and Dean Ross and Reid Ross, both of Nashville, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Emily Fuller (Easton) of Oklahoma and five great grandchildren, Tyler Ross, Evan Ross, Landon Ross, Stella Fuller and Shep Fuller.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Oakland United Methodist Church, 79 Oak St., Oakland MS 38948 or to a charity of your choice.
