Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023, in the chapel of Oliver Funeral Home in Winona for Mrs. Anita Walters, 76, of Winona, who died on Friday, May 12. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. The Rev. Howard Beam officiated. Visitation was held from noon until service time on Monday, May 15, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Walters was a native of Winona and a member of North Winona Baptist Church.
Her parents, the Rev. Sam Garrard and Myrtis Mims Garrard; one daughter, Rhonda Allen Hunt; two brothers, Sam Gerald Garrard and Eugene Garrard, and two great granddaughters, preceded Mrs. Walters in death.
Survivors include, one daughter, Karen Allen Sistrunk (Gary) of Sebastopol; her son, Charles Ray Allen II (Tammy) of Olive Branch; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; her sister, Patricia Garrard Howard of Weir and one brother, Gary Garrard of Pea Ridge, Ark.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
