Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Kilmichael United Methodist Church for Yancy Marion “Sonny” Lott Jr., 93, of Kilmichael, who died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 11, at his residence. Visitation was held from 1:30 p.m. until service time on Saturday, May 14, at the church.
Sonny was born on April 18, 1929, in Kilmichael, the son of Yancy Marion Lott Sr. and Glynn Townsend Lott.
His parents; brothers, Robert Townsend Lott and Thomas Luther Lott; sister, Mary Glynn Lott Walters; one son, William Allen “Bill” Lott, and Helen Wayne Tyler Lott, his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 62 years, preceded Sonny in death.
Survivors include, his daughters, Melissa Lott of Kilmichael, Luanne Lott Stewart (Van) of Kilmichael, Caroline Lott Howell (Ricky) of Belden, Amanda Lott Barr (Bob) of Big Canoe, Ga., and Holley Lott Beeland (Richard) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; four sons, Murray Thomas Lott (Sheryl) of Mooreville, John Phillip Lott of Ft. Worth, Texas, Brooke Townsend Lott (Cindy) of Birmingham, Ala., and Kevin Tyler Lott (Kathy) of Tupelo; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Sonny Lott to the Kilmichael United Methodist Church and Kilmichael Friendship Cemetery.
