Mississippi USDA Rural Development is “bringing its offices” to Grenada this Thursday.
State Director Dr. Trina N. George and her staff are excited to visit Grenada to host a resources conference where individuals can learn of opportunities available to assist with achieving your goals for your community. Registration for the 9 a.m. workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. with it continuing until 3 p.m. It will be held at the Lewis Johnson Senior Citizen Complex located at 299 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
“Traveling around Mississippi, I’m constantly meeting local residents that are unaware of just how many programs we have to offer them, so we created the ‘Buy It, Build It, Fix It’ series of federal resource workshops to bring our staff and our federal partners directly to their community for a one-stop shop, where customers will gain valuable insight into rural development initiatives, business development, farming and ranching, infrastructure improvement programs and many other topics.” Dr. George said. “We’re hosting this event here in Grenada because this area is located in one of three communities selected in Mississippi for the recently launched Rural Partners Network. We’re focused on removing barriers to accessing resources and opening direct lines of communication to our agencies, while doing so in a way that is in line with the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to equal access to opportunity for all, because when rural America thrives, all of America thrives.”
Local staff will be on hand to answer questions about programs including, community facilities, water and wastewater funding, small business loans and grants, and getting your community wired through our high-speed Internet programs. Staff will also be available to assist customers with purchasing their first home or making needed repairs to their existing home through our single-family housing programs. USDA sister agencies will be in attendance, as will other state agencies and community stakeholders, who will be on-hand to assist interested individuals as we bring our offices to you.
