Grenada Police Department investigators continue to piece together the events leading up to a shooting on Gerard Street just after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
According to GPD Chief George Douglas, the shooting occurred at approximately 1:23 p.m. at an apartment complex. Upon arrival, GPD officers discovered that a teenage male, along with a teenage female had both been shot. Even though the shooting reportedly happened on Gerard Street, the male victim was discovered at a residence on Plum Street.
"The male was shot in the leg area near the ankle," Chief Douglas said. "He was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center-Grenada for treatment."
According to Chief Douglas, the female was shot in the foot and was also transported to UMMC-Grenada. The shooter(s) reportedly fled the scene in a car.
The scene extended to Bell and Martin streets as the shooters/victims fled.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
The case remains under investigation.
