Kirk Academy Raiderettes fall in soccer playoffs

You could tell as last week’s Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Class III Soccer Playoffs game between Kirk Academy and Discovery Christian School of Florence would go down to the wire. You worried that it might not end well for the home team.

Grenada Middle School seventh-grade downs Tupelo in OT on road

Grenada Middle School seventh-grade quarterback Brayden Hardiman had a big night leading his team to a 26-20 overtime win at Tupelo last Thursday.

Hardiman finished the night with 11 carries and 158 yards and a touchdown. As a passer, he completed 5-of-9 for 178 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime.

Grenada JV, freshmen lose

The Grenada High School freshman and junior varsity Chargers were in action Monday night with one game at home and the other on the road.

At Lafayette, Grenada’s JV dropped a 14-8 decision to the Commodores. The freshmen Chargers lost a 36-16 home matchup with the Tupelo Golden Wave.

Third-ranked Madison Central Jaguars visit Chargers Friday night

The gauntlet that is Class 6A, Region 2 continues this Friday night at Charger Stadium when the Grenada Chargers face the defending Class 6A state champion Madison Central Jaguars, which are ranked third.

It will be the second straight Top 10 team that Grenada will line up against.
