Chargers break skid, down Murrah

It was just what the doctor ordered for the Grenada Chargers. After opening Class 6A, Region 2 play with consecutive losses at Tupelo and Madison Central by a combined score of 70-6, the Chargers returned home Friday to face the struggling Murrah Mustangs, who entered the game at 1-5 overall and 0-2 inside the region.

GMS eighth-grade Chargers lose to Tupelo

Allowing the big play has been a problem all season for the Grenada Middle School Chargers. That didn’t change last Thursday night at Charger Stadium against rival Tupelo.

The Golden Wave used a 55-yard run and two-point conversion and held on for a 14-12 win.

With the loss, Grenada drops to 1-2 on the season.

Raiderettes fall in semifinals to defending soccer champ Laurel

Kirk Academy ran into one of the top girls soccer teams last Thursday in the semifinals of the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Division III Playoffs facing Laurel Christian School Lady Lions. Laurel came into the contest with a 13-2 mark and was the 2020 state champion in Division III.
