Prior to and after Mississippi Rep. Stacey Hobgood-Wilkes (Rep.-Picayune) stating her case against the relocation of Grenada’s Confederate Monument from the Downtown Square to what she believes is not a “suitable location,” several longtime residents voiced their concerns on the matter.
Three citizens were called up front to the podium by Mayor Charles Latham and spoke briefly to the Council regarding their concerns and resolutions to the Confederate Statue being relocated. Those individuals were Girault Jones, Bill Daly and Lou Golding.
Each offered insight to the monument issue as well as resolutions in hopes of steering the Council to relocating it to an alternate location.
