Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Judy Haughton Williams, 77, of Grenada, who died on Wednesday, July 5, at her residence. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Dr. Jim Phillips officiated. Family and friends gathered one hour prior to the service on Friday, July 7, at McKibben and Guinn.
Judy was born on April 10, 1946, in West Point, the daughter of the late William Andrew and the late Hazel Dena Nelson Haughton. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing. She worked for many years as a labor and delivery nurse at Grenada Lake Medical Center having been privileged to witness the birth of hundreds of newborns during her tenure there. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In her spare time, Judy enjoyed spending time with her family and tending to her flowers and her yard.
In addition to her parents, one sister, Joyce, preceded Judy in death.
Survivors include, her husband of 55 years, John Richard “Dick” Williams; daughter, Diana Jo Jones (Hal); son, Steven Williams (Jan) of Grenada; one sister, Mary Elaine Lyons of Aiken, S.C.; three grandchildren, Kailey Phillips (Adam), Drew Williams (Ashlyn) and Adrianna Jones and two great grandchildren, Henley Phillips and Harley Phillips.
Bill McCammon, Vernon McCammon, Adam Phillips, Randy Sweet, Adam Vickery and Joey Walker honored Judy by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Judy’s dear friend and caregiver, Renee Green, and husband, David, along with the wonderful staff of Adoration Hospice for the sincere and dignified care extended to Judy in her last days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Friendship Baptist Church.
