A Celebration of Life Service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Jimmy Lee Edwards, 60, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, Aug. 17, at his residence. The Rev. John Goldwater and the Rev. Keith Harris officiated. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service on Friday, Aug. 23, at McKibben and Guinn.
Jimmy was born on June 27, 1964, in Great Britain. He was a 1982 graduate of Judson High School in Live Oak, Texas, where he was a member of the drum line in the high school band. He also received honors in mathematics and was a member of the Math Club. He attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcus, Texas, and received a bachelor’s degree in math and Spanish.
In 2005, he met and married the love of his life, Patricia Walker. They were happily married for 19 years. That same year, he also received his master’s in education degree from Union University in Jackson, Tenn. He began his teaching career at Humphrey High School in Humphrey, Ark. He later taught in Indianola, Columbus and Starkville, and at Strider Academy. He also did some substitute teaching in the Grenada School District.
His favorite hobbies included, attending any sporting event, especially the Dallas Cowboys football games, reading, traveling and working sudoku. He and Patricia particularly enjoyed traveling to Ireland, England and Iceland. Jimmy very much enjoyed his career choice of teaching, especially math and history.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include, his wife, Patricia Walker Edwards of Grenada; brother, Henry O. Edwards III (Linda) of Live Oak, Texas, and a nephew, Geoff Edwards.
