Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at The Pentecostals of Grenada for Mr. Morris Gene Lance, 59, of Grenada, who died on Monday, March 10, at his residence. Burial followed in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Cascilla.
Gene was born on April 5, 1965, in Grenada. He was a member of The Pentecostals of Grenada. He was a welder and fabricator, he enjoyed carpenter work, and he was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
His biological father, Windell Lance, and his parents, Bobby and Carolyn Avery, preceded Gene in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Becky Lance; daughters, Nichole Bouchillon (Jonathan) of Batesville and Laken Smith and Julia Johnson (Ken), all of Southaven, and sons, Austin Lance (Candace) of Cascilla and Jordan Smith (Deidra) of Somerville, Tenn. He is also survived by seven brothers and sisters, Sonny Lance (Donna), Dewey Avery (Viki), Bobby Avery (Janice), Kim Melton, Loretta Jackson (John), Tammie Shankle (Barry) and Becky Brogan (Steve); eight grandchildren, Brooklyn Bouchillon, Knox Bouchillon, John Austin Lance, Tuck Lance, Kolston Smith, Laciee Smith, Kashton Jones and Krue Jones, along with several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Trae Miller, Tyler Thornton, Brent Anderson, Bubba Jones, Barry Shankle and Steve Brogan. Honorary pallbearers were Kannon Tipton, Cooper Tipton, Kade Tipton and Daniel Garlington.
