Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in the Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery in Alcorn County for Mrs. Mary Frances Dungan Mullen, 88, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, April 30, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She will be laid to rest beside her husband of 41 years, the Rev. Greek L. Mullen (1997).
Mrs. Mullen was born on Nov. 20, 1934, in Charleston. She was a homemaker and later had an 18-year career as a nursing home administrator in Corinth where she practiced her faith on a daily basis. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and was a Methodist minister’s wife for 40 years, and had been widowed for 25 years.
In addition to her husband, her parents, Maudie James Dungan and Francis Lee Dungan; two sisters, Betty Jo Pettit (William Jr.) and Nancy Fortenberry (Jim); three brothers, infant Percy Dungan, James Lee Dungan Sr. and Robert Quinton Dungan, and one great granddaughter, Lydia Grace Weeks, preceded Mrs. Mullen in death.
Mrs. Mullen was looking forward to reuniting with these that have gone before, in her heavenly home.
Survivors include, two children, Renee Weeks Rocha (Rudy) of Gore Springs and Dale Mullen (Cheryl) of Bartlett, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Wesley Weeks (Laura) of Iuka, Chris Mullen (Jill) of Memphis, Tenn., and Rachael Mullen Joiner (Paul) of Booneville; one brother, Gene Dungan (Joy) of Scobey; 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of family and dear friends.
