It’s football time at Kirk Academy.
Beginning Monday morning, July 26, Kirk Academy second-year head coach Mike Beagle sends his Raiders into fall camp in preparation for the start of the 2021 season. Expectations are high for the Raiders, who have one of their biggest senior classes in memory with 20.
Last season, Kirk finished with a 4-7 mark losing in the opening round of the Class AAA playoffs against Tri-County.
Ever since the end of season, we have been in the weight room working on the physical and mental part of the game,” Beagle said. “Our guys have worked hard.”
The week leading up to Meet the Raiders on Aug. 5 will see scrimmages against Bayou and Canton Academy.
North Delta School will once again host the Class AAAA, District 1 jamboree on Aug. 13. The Raiders open play at 5 p.m. against Class 5A member Bayou Academy. After a game break, Kirk closes action at 6:30 p.m. against Rossville (Tenn.). Scrimmages will last a 20-minute running clock. Other teams taking part in the jamboree Indianola Academy, North Delta School, Clarksdale Lee, Marshall and Washington School of Greenville.
The Raiders open the 2021 season Aug. 20 with a road game at Pillow Academy in Greenwood. Kirk opens the home season Aug. 27 against rival Carroll Academy.
