Tonight’s Grenada High School vs. South Panola basketball games scheduled for 6 p.m. at GHS have been canceled due to winter weather, which forced South Panola to cancel school today.
Despite the cancelation, Senior Night activities will go on, but have been pushed to 6 p.m. with both the boys and girls teams holding intrasquad scrimmages after the recognition of the senior boys and girls players.
Admission will be free to the event.
The teams will compete in the Class 6A, Region 2 District Tournament beginning Monday at Starkville High School
Coach Kendrick Conley’s girls take a 13-8 record into the tournament and at 4 p.m. against top-seeded Tupelo. Coach Joey Cooley’s 12-11 Chargers face top-seeded Starkville at 8:30 p.m. The consolation round of the tournament will be Wednesday with games set for 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Championship games will be at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Top 3 teams move on to Class 6A State Tournament, which begin at various sites based on seeding from the individual district tournaments.
