Tonight is the first chance for Grenada residents, business owners and community stakeholders to ask questions and voice their concerns regarding the recently announced community master plan.
The Greater Grenada Partnership (GGP) is hosting the event at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Corey Forum Auditorium on the Grenada campus of Holmes Community College.
“I am pleased to inform you that our office will be hosting the Kendig Keast Collaborative for the first Town Hall Listening Session,” GGP Chief Executive Officer Matthew Harrison said. “This meeting will allow you to have your input and insights heard as we move forward in creating the community master plan.”
Kendig Keast Collaborative of Sugar Land, Texas, was hired by the GGP and Grenada County as the certified master planning firm, which is tasked to speak with stakeholders as they develop a step-by-step plan to answer each of the targeted needs in the community. The firm was announced during an informal meeting with business owners, community leaders and local stakeholders at Holmes in late September.
The need for a master plan and a firm to facilitate it became top priority after announcement of the mammoth Milwaukee Tool accessories manufacturing facility being built in Grenada County was announced earlier this year. The game-changing industrial development project was made public in mid-April and once complete will anchor the I-55 Business and Technology Park. However, as with any project of its magnitude, it takes methodical planning before dirt can be turned in preparation for the more than 600,000-square-foot structure that could increase to as large as 1.3 million square feet.
According to Harrison, the meeting will cover “too many” items to list, however, he said that the “needs in Grenada” are at the top of the list.
“We hope you will attend and be part of this exciting opportunity,” he concluded. “This is an open event and the public is invited to participate. Please come ready to provide insights and speak up.”
Kendig Keast, led by Gary Mitchell, FAICP, began work immediately on Grenada’s Build Better Together Project following September’s meeting and hopes to have a needs report available by mid-2022.
