The Greater Grenada Partnership recently announced three new promotions within the office. Allyson Coleman, Alexia Gavin and Cathey Wrenn all hold new titles for the GGP.
Allyson Coleman has served as project manager since 2020. Her leadership and dedication to the organizations mission have been instrumental in the development of key initiatives, including the Grenada Business Expansion Program and the Grenada Economic Development Summit.
In her new role as Chief Operations Officer (COO), she will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as developing and implementing strategies to support the Greater Grenada Partnerships mission of promoting economic growth and development in Grenada.
“Allyson’s experience and expertise in project management, coupled with her deep understanding of our organization and its goals, makes her the perfect fit for this role,” Harrison said. “We are confident that she will continue to bring the same level of dedication and passion to her new role as she has to her previous positions.”
Recently, Coleman completed the University of Southern Mississippi’s True South Economic Development Course and received the Prestigious Heidal Award. She is currently enrolled in the Community Development Institute program at the University of Central Arkansas. Upon graduation, she will receive her credentials as a Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED).
“I am excited to take on this new role and continue to work with our team to achieve our mission,” Coleman said. “I am committed to driving the Chamber of Commerce forward, and I look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”
Coleman holds both a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University where she received multiple certifications and awards for her academic accomplishments.
Alexia Gavin
Alexia Gavin was promoted to Membership Engagement Manager for the GGP.
As the new Membership Engagement Manager, Gavin will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage chamber members and increase their involvement in the community. She will work closely with the Chamber of Commerce members to create new opportunities for them to connect with each other and the Greater Grenada Partnership.
Gavin brings extensive experience in marketing and community outreach, making her the ideal candidate for this critical role. Her job will also assist the COO with all activities related to membership recruitment and retention and oversees development, planning, and deployment duties for all events, social media, and live streaming, including, but not limited to, the Grenada Downtown Jubilee, annual golf tournaments, parades, grand openings, ground breakings, annual gala and all other Chamber of Commerce promoted events.
“Alexia’s proven track record of successful community engagement and marketing strategies will be invaluable to our organization,” said Harrison. “We are thrilled to welcome her to our team and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our Chamber of Commerce.”
Gavin has more than five years of experience in marketing, sales and community outreach. Prior to joining the Greater Grenada Partnership, she served at the Grenada School District as an instructional assistant. She is also the owner of Gav & Co Boutique located in the historic district of Grenada’s Downtown.
“I am excited to join the Greater Grenada Partnership and the Chamber of Commerce team,” said Gavin. “I look forward to working with our members to develop new initiatives and opportunities that will benefit our community and local businesses.”
Cathey Wrenn
A new hire for an office and events manager and executive assistant landed in the arms of Cathey Wrenn where she will support the COO with office operations and management.
Wrenn, a native of Water Valley moved to Grenada almost 15 years ago. She has several years of experience within an administrative environment, ensuring that everyone has the workspace, tools and cultural support they need to do their best work. She is equal parts business leader and artist. Her top priority is making sure the office — and its people — operates smoothly, day in and day out.
Before this hire, Wrenn served as an agent and office manager for Rawson Insurance Agency in Grenada. She comes with more than 20 years of management experience and community involvement.
“With more than 20 years of experience within the same company, Cathey’s dedication is remarkable,“ Harrison said. “We are looking forward to the same dedication in making Grenada a better place to live, work and play.”
Wrenn will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Chamber of Commerce, including coordinating events, managing membership, and promoting local businesses. As Executive Assistant to the Greater Grenada Partnership, she will also support the organizations leadership team and help to ensure the smooth operation of its programs and initiatives.
“I’m excited and looking forward to this next chapter of growth in the Grenada region,” Wrenn concluded. “The Chamber and our partnerships have an important role to play in revitalizing Grenada businesses and the local economy.”
