There was plenty of football action at Raider Field on Aug. 28. Kirk Academy held its annual pee wee football jamboree. Teams from Kirk, Carroll, Winona Christian, Indianola and Central Holmes gather for full day of action.
Kirk played two different groups in the jamboree. The A Team tied Carroll 6-6, lost to Indianola 8-0, lost to Winona Christian 8-0 and lost to Central Holmes 8-0. The B Team won a 14-6 decision against Carroll, tied Winona 0-0 and beat Central Holmes 8-0.
Colt Harbin had the lone touchdown scoring on a 54-yard run in the game against Carroll. Jett Lewis was the offensive standout. Tate Summers and Kason Woods paced the defensive charge.
Against Indianola, Carson Hathcock, Keeton Kimbrough, Gavin Elliott and Case McGee were the standouts. Dawson Campbell and Lewis led the effort defensively.
In the loss to Winona Christian, the standouts were Logan Carson and Ross James on the defensive side. Kayden Costilow, Klayton Winter and Levi Jeffreys led the defensive effort in the loss to Central Holmes.
In B-team action, Russell Mims scored on a 70-yard run. Witt Cravens went in from six yards out and Mims accounted for the two-point conversion. Kohen Mattox was the defensive standout.
Against Winona Christian, Benson Liles, Luke Garlington, Logan Welch and Cannon Ford played well. Defensively, Coltin and Corbin Timbs paced the effort.
In the Central Holmes contest, Cravens threw a touchdown pass to Riley Beckham and Jake Hood added a two-point conversion. Charlie Bailey, Hudson and Hayden Bundt were the standouts on defense.
