The family received friends from noon until service time on Monday, Nov. 25, at First Baptist Church Grenada.
Jim was born on Feb. 23, 1955, in Grenada, the son of the late J.C. and the late Francis Cole Thomas. He knew the value of hard work and spent countless hours driving his dump trucks and operating heavy equipment. He owned and operated Jim Thomas Construction for more than 53 years and left this world with his dump truck loaded.
Jim was very loyal to the Caterpillar brand and enjoyed attending equipment auctions and tinkering with his antique bulldozers. Jim married the love of his life and missed her more than words can say. He was a devoted family man, who took great pride in telling others about the accomplishments of his daughters and enjoyed spending his free time with his granddaughter, who lovingly referred to him as “Pappy.”
Jim was a member of First Baptist Church Grenada. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, his beloved wife, Debbie DuBard Thomas, and his brother, Johnny Rufus Thomas, preceded Jim in death.
Survivors include, two daughters, Dr. Katie Thomas Hood (Jeremy) of Grenada and Hannah Michelle Thomas of Washington, D.C.; sister, Judy Thomas Pyron (Don) of Grenada; granddaughter, Madeline Grace Hood of Grenada; in-laws, W.L. and Jean DuBard of Carroll County and a host of nieces and nephews.
David DuBard, John Landon DuBard, Tate Gordon, Jeremy Hood, Michael Hood, Tim Liddell, Curtis Sapp and Ken Thomas honored Jim by serving as pallbearers and carried him to rest in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
