Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Coffeeville for Mr. Jerry Lynn Beckwith, 78, of Coffeeville, who died on Saturday, March 15, at his residence. Burial with military honors followed in Elam Cemetery near Coffeeville. The Rev. Craig Baker officiated. The family received friends from noon until service time on Tuesday, March 18, at the church.
Jerry was born on Sept. 27, 1946, in Carrollton, the son of the late Alex Bruce and the late Cecil Hill Beckwith. He honorably served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and retired from the United States Postal Service. Among his many hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening and grilling out with his family and friends. An avid Ole Miss sports fan, he enjoyed watching all sports either in person or from his recliner at home. Above all, Jerry enjoyed being “Beckdaddy” to his grandchildren and supporting them in all of their activities.
In addition to his parents, one brother, Bruce Beckwith, and his son, Brian Jones, preceded Jerry in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Debra Ann Beckwith; daughter, Kim Allen (Jay) of Coffeeville; sister, Patricia Pittman Prince of Grenada; one brother, Larry Beckwith of Carrollton; four grandchildren, Alicyn Jones, Megan Jones, Audrey Allen and Jake Allen and two great grandchildren, Bray and Dallas Higdon.
Jay Allen, Ben Beckwith, B.W. Beckwith, Sam Denley, Cody Jones and Channing Martin honored Jerry by serving as pallbearers and carried him to rest in Elam Cemetery. Ricky Beckwith, Wayne Beckwith, Adam Boyle, Michael Ingram, Terry Jones, Robert Lee and Ronnie Stark served as honorary pallbearers.
