Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. James Edward “Jimmy” Adams, 74, of Grenada, who died on Monday, Jan. 26, at his residence. Burial followed in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. John Goldwater officiated. The family received friends from noon until service time on Saturday, Jan. 31, at McKibben and Guinn.
James was born on Dec. 16, 1951, in Ashland, the son of the late James Douglas Adams and the late Dorice “Dude” Hood Adams. He spent the majority of his life working in the construction business where his natural talent and gifted hands made him well known and respected for his craftsmanship. An avid outdoorsman, he considered Grenada Lake his second home and truly cherished every moment spent on the water.
James could best be described as a free spirit — someone who lived life with a lighthearted attitude and an easygoing personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His warmth, humor and love for life will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, two sisters, Josephine Clark and Irene McNeer, and his brother, Allen Reed, preceded James in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Lacie Joan Adams of Grenada; six sons: James Joel “Jody” Adams of Charleston, James Jeremy Adams of Tallahatchie County, Casey Douglas Adams of Grenada, Haley Reed Adams of Grenada, Cody Zachariah Adams of Grenada and Jonathan Franklin Ingram of Grenada; three sisters: Jean Noland of Oxford, Bonnie Costilow of Grenada and Louise Williams of Rosebloom; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
James’ sons honored their father by serving as pallbearers.
