Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Jacquelene “Jackie” Goforth Orsborn, 76, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Tupelo. Burial followed at 5 p.m. in Boguefala Cemetery near Mooreville. The Rev. Phil McRae officiated. The family received friends from noon until service time on Saturday, Oct. 12, at McKibben and Guinn.
Jackie was born on July 29, 1948, in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Ora Wilburn and the late Mildred Blackwell Goforth. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Delta State University and had been an educator for more than 50 years. She taught at Winona Academy, Winona Christian School and was instrumental in the ABE program at Parchman Penitentiary.
Jackie enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and sharing and trying new recipes. She especially loved spoiling her two rescue dogs, Penny and Sandy. Some of Jackie’s most treasured moments were those she got to spend with those she loved at the beach. Jackie will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Donald Wayne Goforth, preceded Jackie in death.
Survivors include, her husband, Ed Orsborn; daughter, Laura Orsborn of Saltillo; son, Lance Orsborn of Columbus; sister, Antoinette Boswell (Jimmy) of Indianola and one grandson, Chase Orsborn.
Marc Card, Lee Grady, John Morgan, Bill Russell, Wes Strowd and John Westmoreland honored Jackie by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in Boguefala Cemetery.
