A fresh Grenada Star newspaper rack has made its debut in front of Dollar Tree at the Grenada Square Shopping Center, replacing an old, fading version that had been in place for more than a decade. The new rack, which was installed over the weekend at 1234 Sunset Dr., marks the beginning of a wide-ranging effort to overhaul the newspaper’s distribution network across Grenada County.
The coin-operated rack is the first of many to be swapped out in the coming weeks, as management works to replace aging equipment with newer and refurbished models that are both more durable and better suited for daily use. The project will extend beyond Sunset Drive, reaching other high-traffic areas around the county where The Star has maintained long-standing newsstand stops.
In addition to the outdoor racks, readers will also begin seeing changes inside familiar retail spots. Multiple convenience stores and local businesses are scheduled to receive newly built Polyethylene Plastic MR-3 multi-racks, custom made for The Star, to house newspapers indoors. The first wave of those dealer racks will roll out at all five Sprint Mart locations in Grenada, reflecting what management calls a “hometown partnership” to keep the paper easily accessible for readers on the go.
The upgrades represent the largest expansion in The Star’s single-copy network in years, with plans not just to replace equipment, but also to grow its reach. At least five new coin-operated racks are planned to be introduced at additional curbside locations, joining at least three more indoor dealer racks that will be added to the current lineup.
Readers can also subscribe to The Star - Grenada County's hometown newspaper since 1854 - and have it delivered to their mailbox each week by stopping by the office located at 355 W. Monroe St., or calling (662) 226-4321.
