Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Friendship East Baptist Church in Charleston for Elizabeth Hill Thomas, 94, of Charleston, who died on Tuesday, April 25, in Oxford. Burial followed in Friendship East Cemetery. Dr. Ben Kennedy and the Rev. Ken Watson officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to service time on Friday, April 28, at the church.
Elizabeth was born on Sept. 4, 1928, the daughter of the late Georgia Hammond Clark and the late Cecil Ballard Johnson. She was a member of Friendship East Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 54 years, Jonathan Griffin Thomas; sister, Loraine Carpenter; brother, Melville Johnson, and one great grandson, preceded Elizabeth in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Rita Friga (Robert) of Enid; her son, Danny Ray Thomas (Robin) of Holcomb; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Friendship East Baptist Church, P.O. Box 154, Charleston, MS 38921.
