Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, at Grenada Church of God for Mr. Curtis Lamar Taylor, 76, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, Feb. 18, in Grenada. Burial followed in Red Hill Cemetery.
Curtis was born on May 29, 1948, the son of the late Oliver Jack Taylor and the late Marjorie Eidson Taylor. He began his working career alongside his family at Jack Taylor and Sons from 1969-1983, where he served in numerous roles in the business. He later worked at Pioneer Beef Co. in Grenada. He and his wife, Nelda, also founded ASM Realty and were instrumental in the construction of numerous homes in the area.
Curtis was a past president of the Home Builders Association of Grenada. He was also an independent insurance agent while in the real estate business. Curtis was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He honorably served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for more than 17 years and earned the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Curtis will long be remembered as a well-respected and loved man who was deeply devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Nelda Taylor; one daughter, Leigh Allison Taylor, and one sister, Carol Cummins, preceded Curtis in death.
Survivors include, one daughter, Carrie Blakely (Damon) of the Red Hill Community; one sister, Sandra White (Mike) of Grenada; his brother, Mike Taylor (Teresa) of Ridgeland; six grandchildren, Devin Cooper (Anna), Jessica Parks (Drew), Taylor Heineck, Curtis Heineck, Jackson Kennedy and Belle Kennedy and 11 great grandchildren, Allyeana Cooper, Zoey Cooper, Kendall Cooper, Isabella Cooper, Praisley Cooper, Brylee Parks, Jaycee Parks, Jeremiah Moyers, Remington Moyers, Kamila Brower and Mayleigh Heineck.
Pallbearers were Damon Blakely, Devin Cooper, Curtis Heineck, Drew Parks, Mark Taylor and Wayne Taylor.
The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to the staff of Providence Assisted Living and Adoration Home Health and Hospice for the love and exceptional care they extended to Curtis.
